Pirouette Rhythmic Gymnastics Club
Pirouette RG Club was established in 1996 by head coach Eva Sokol. Over the past 20+ years Pirouette has grown into a multicultural, non-profit organization offering the beautiful sport of rhythmic gymnastics to girls of all ages and abilities.
Registration for the 2019/2020 season is now open!
We offer programs for girls of all levels and ages! Please contact us about your free assessment for proper placement into our programs.
The recreational program is for girls 4+ and teaches the basic techniques of rhythmic movement using traditional rhythmic apparatus—ropes, hoops, balls, ribbons and scarves with an emphasis on group interaction. The classes are grouped according to age and/or previous experience. No experience necessary!
The Pre-Competitive program prepares gymnasts for demonstrations, shows, displays and potentially for competitive performance. The gymnasts follow an annual training plan outlining body and apparatus technique and ballet training. We focus on development of specific rhythmic gymnastics skills, flexibility, eye-hand coordination, balance, endurance, speed and strength.
Gymnasts in the Competitive program are trained in flexibility, endurance, co-ordination, strength and apparatus techniques in preparation for competition. Competitive gymnasts are expected to register for the entire training season from September to June as well as the summer training camp in August. We offer Inter-Club and Provincial competitive programs in both RG & AGG.
Gymnaestrada gives the opportunity for gymnasts to celebrate movement and physical activity in a non-competitive environment while capturing the true essence of the ‘Gymnastics for All’ and ‘Active for Life’ philosophies of sport and recreation. These routines consist of a large group of participants ages 9 and up. Routines are made to explore and push the boundaries of gymnastics.
Eva has over 30 years of coaching experience, from recreational to high performance programs. She is a former rhythmic gymnast, and has trained gymnasts on provincial and national teams, the Canada Winter Games, the Western Canada Summer Games, and the Canadian teams for the World Gymnaestradas. She was the winner of the 2017 Coach of the year.
